Club Baseball

Established in 2016, The SDSU Club Baseball team plays highly competitive intercollegiate baseball in Division 1 of the National Club Baseball Association (NCBA). The team competes in the South Conference of the Southern Pacific Region, primarily against schools from California and Arizona. SDSU Club Baseball won the national championship in 2018 and has been trying to get back ever since. The team has placed top 3 in conference the last couple years with the hopes of winning the conference this coming season. Club Baseball gives students the opportunity to continue playing at a competitive level, while allowing time to focus on schoolwork and social lives. The team is coached and run by an elected board of students, giving members the opportunity to have leadership roles within the organization. Current full-time students who meet the Aztec Recreation Sport Clubs and NCBA eligibility requirements are encouraged to try out each Fall.

Club baseball hired their first coach in 2024: David Aceron, who is a long-time staple in the San Diego Youth and High School coaching ranks.

The SDSU Club Baseball program uses Mesa College and San Diego High School to host their home games and rents external batting cages which cost the team tens of thousands a year. The team also tries to get a new uniform every couple years. The program is hoping to grow and travel more to boost their chances of making the postseason as playing better competition helps with head to head decisions at the end of the year.
