Club Tennis

Established in 2013, the SDSU Club Tennis Team prides itself on its continuous growth while maintaining a highly competitive yet close knit team. Our team is coed because the format of competition has both men’s, women’s and mixed events. Since our team consists of both male and female players, our players work as both teammates and friends to push one another to the next level and help each other improve.

Since we are a competitive club sport, we travel often to different tournaments all throughout both California and the nation. Our team travels to compete in tournaments run by other club teams both locally and out of state while also hosting tournaments of our own. We also have a dedicated competition team that competes in USTA Official Tennis On Campus Tournaments, fighting with other teams for a spot at nationals.

For the last two years SDSU’s Club Tennis Team has qualified for USTA Tennis on Campus Nationals, hosted in Rome Georgia, after 8 years of not qualifying. In order to do this we have placed top 4 in the Southern California Section, which is one of the most competitive sections in the nation. Just this last year, the Aztecs performed the best the club has ever seen at nationals placing 14th in the entire nation. These accomplishments have been extremely significant to this club, but also the largest constraint to our budget.

With new talent emerging every year and joining our team, we are in an excellent position to keep performing as we have been, and potentially even doing better than the previous years. As a team we strive to uphold the SDSU tradition of both competition and sportsmanship in order to create a strong and well respected team.
