Brief team history and recent success

Founded in the fall of 1998 under SDSU’s Sport Clubs program and closely connected with the Marching Aztecs, the SDSU Dance Team has grown into a powerhouse on and off the stage. They made their breakthrough at UDA College Nationals in 2020, winning their first Division 1A Hip-Hop title, and have since earned silver medals in the D1A Hip Hop category in 2023 and 2025. Beyond national competitions, the team empower SDSU football, men’s and women’s basketball, and other athletic teams, perform at community and charity events, and foster school pride across campus. Many alumni go on to dance professionally, which is a testament to the strong foundation built within the program. This emphasizes community outreach, clinics, and volunteer work that deepen their impact far beyond the university.

Donations help cover essential costs like travel, uniforms, and choreography, allowing these talented student-athletes to continue building school spirit, pursuing championships, and growing as leaders on and off the dance floor.

What is the SDSU Dance Team?

The San Diego State University Dance Team is a spirited and dedicated group of Sport Club student-athletes who proudly represent SDSU. As an official sports club under Associated Students, our team includes 30 full-time students who balance academics, rigorous practice schedules, and performances. We are passionate about elevating Aztec pride through our performances and embodying the vibrant community spirit of San Diego State University.

What are the goals of the campaign?

Our main goal is to raise the necessary funds to support our travel, competition, and training expenses for the upcoming season. Each year, we work hard to inspirit SDSU athletic events, appear at community and campus events, and train to compete at the national level.

We are currently striving to return to the College National Championship in Orlando, Florida, where we compete against the best collegiate dance teams in the nation. Funding is crucial to cover travel costs, registration fees, hotel, choreography, and costumes. Generous support from donors allows us to continue representing SDSU with excellence on and off the stage.
