What is the SDSU Ski and Snowboard Team?
We are the SDSU Ski and Snowboard Team—a competitive and social student-run sports club that represents San Diego State University in collegiate snow sports. Our team is made up of passionate student-athletes from diverse backgrounds who train, travel, and compete in ski and snowboard events across the West Coast and beyond. We foster a community centered around athletic excellence, personal growth, and unforgettable experiences on and off the mountain. We’ve built a community of student-athletes dedicated to pushing their limits on the mountain while forming lifelong friendships and representing SDSU in the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA).
Recent Successes and/or Challenges:
In 2025, the SDSU Ski and Snowboard Team reached a major milestone—sending 18 athletes to Nationals at Mt. Bachelor in Bend, Oregon, the largest group we've ever qualified. As a student-run club, we give SDSU students the chance to compete in a high-level, high-intensity sport while developing leadership, school spirit, and lifelong friendships. We proudly represent SDSU while competing in the USCSA league, facing off against top schools across the region and nation. But with our growth comes rising travel, lodging, and competition costs that make it harder for many students to participate. Too often, qualified athletes are forced to miss out due to financial barriers. We’re committed to keeping our program inclusive, competitive, and accessible—and with your support, we can ensure that every student who earns a spot on the mountain gets the opportunity to race.
What are the goals of your campaign?
Our goal is to raise $25,000 to support our 2025–26 season, helping cover expenses like travel, lodging, competition fees, uniforms, team meals, and athlete subsidies. We want to make competitive skiing and snowboarding more accessible and ensure that every qualified athlete has the opportunity to compete at Regionals and Nationals, regardless of financial background.
Why do you need funding?
Snow sports are expensive, and many students cannot afford the out-of-pocket costs to participate, especially for travel-intensive events like Nationals. While we fundraise year-round and contribute our own dues, it's not enough to meet the full financial demands of the season. By donating, you're directly helping to: Reduce financial barriers for student-athletes, increase accessibility and inclusivity in a traditionally exclusive sport, help SDSU stand out in collegiate competition, and build a sustainable program for future Aztec athletes.
Your support allows our team to:
Pay for transportation and lodging for multi-day competitions, provide racer bibs and uniforms so all athletes can represent SDSU with pride, cover airfare and entry fees for National-level events, and offer financial assistance to new members, making the sport more equitable.
