What is the San Diego State University Surf Team?
The SDSU Surf team is highly competitive and competes in the National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA). The team is both male and female short-board and longboard surfers. The team has grown and excelled for over 30 years. The Surf Team has been California State Champions in the National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) in 2006, 2009 and 2013. The 2013 season brought the team their 3rd National Champion Title in 26 years (1987, 2007, & 2013).
What are the goals of our campaign?
During the Surf team season we compete all up and down the California Coast. In doing this there are various costs such as travel fees, lodging, food, competition fees, and apparel to represent our team at the competitions. While we have dues for the team we try to keep it reasonably low and affordable for the average college student. Thus, with this fundraiser, we hope to be able to provide lower member dues for the team, new equipment, and lower the cost of travel for members.
What does the SDSU Surf Team accomplish at SDSU?
Being on a team in college is a great opportunity to meet new people and branch out into a sport that everyone shares the same love for. Anyone who has been a part of the team either in college or high school knows the memories and experiences that they made while playing are priceless, and we want everyone to experience that. It’s also a great branching point for students looking at entering the surf industry after college!
How will donors make an impact?
By donating, you will be ensuring that our club can continue running, but also that prices stay as low as possible. All funds raised will go directly to the team, and support yearly costs.
The Surf team is excited for every season to come and has created this fundraiser to ensure the team stays active as a club sport at SDSU and supports all of our athletes.
